Following the foundation of WIGO in 1945, the company took its first steps solely as a trading company for chemical products for everyday use. However, within only a few years, WIGO grew into an actual producer of specialist chemical products.

With the turn of the century WIGO underwent restructuring: In 2001, it took over the long-established Caramba Chemie in Duisburg – one of Germany’s oldest brands. Just one year later, Berner – one of Europe’s leading companies for direct sales in the construction and automobile sector – joined the group of companies.

The next significant event occurred in 2007: Berner took over 100 percent of the shares in WIGO and Caramba. Both companies were integrated into the chemical division of the Berner group.

Today, the Bremen-based company TEGEE Chemie and the Austrian company Christian Maurer can be found alongside WIGO and Caramba under the umbrella of the Caramba-Holding.
